What is HOMEdigz.com?
It’s an online community for home enthusiasts, and the many wonderful businesses that help them improve their homes. Membership is free, and you can chat with other homeowners and experts in a room-by-room format.
If you’ve been a member for awhile, you’ve probably noticed some changes! In honor of our upcoming 1 year anniversary, we’re sprucing up the site to make it easier to read, and provide additional resources for our many business members.

How HOMEdigz got started
I’ve been asked many times how HOMEdigz.com came to be. Well, I love decorating AND I love working on my computer. Yea, I’m a geek.
I’m sure I am not the only one who has lurked about at Panera Bread with a laptop and a great idea. We come for the free wifi and tend to pick the tables in the corners and rarely make eye contact, except for the occasional nod to another laptop geek.
In 2007, I got the idea to develop a new online community for home enthusiasts. I spent a lot of time thinking about how it would be unique. As I began to conceptualize the HOMEdigz project, I recorded my thoughts and ideas in no particular order, hoping they’d all make sense in the end.
I guess you could say it all came together over a mojito (or two) in Cancun on my 10 year anniversary. My husband had a business conference, and I tagged along. It was the “perfect storm” for inspiration. I had time, sunshine, my laptop, alone-time and full access to the swim-up bar at the infinity pool overlooking the Caribbean ocean.
I eagerly pulled together all my cryptic notes I’d made over the past several months at Panera and finally saw what HOMEdigz could be. I drafted my first round of technical requirements for the development team.
Fast forward (a few more months than planned), and HOMEdigz.com was finally launched in beta mode March, 2009. (Woo Hoo)!
We have big plans for HOMEdigz.com. We hope you will join us on our colorful journey! Now I’ve introduced myself…it’s your turn!

About Susan Jensen Smith:
In addition to developing and managing HOMEdigz, Susan owns a home staging and interior redesign company called Rooms That Work LLC, publishes the “Your home, only better.” blog as well as contributes to theHomeGoods Openhouse blog.
But what many do not know, is that she has over 15 years marketing experience. Her passion for online marketing and the design industry is what drove her to create HOMEdigz. Not only is it a fun place to share ideas and be part of a community, but it’s also a great marketing resource for businesses:
- There are many ways to promote your expertise and business on HOMEdigz in the form of posts, articles, and the business directory. Here are a few ideas.
- The new Biz Center is a new learning area of the site to help business members extend their brands online. There are blog posts about blogging, social media, email marketing and general marketing strategy. But there is also a private business-members only section of the forum where businesses can ask specific questions about their marketing.
